First of all, as AHSASK, we aim to carry out the activities we define below within the scope of the activities permitted by the sports federations of the Ministry of Sports.

Yusuf DİKEÇ and Şevval İlayda TARHAN, who represented our country in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games 10 M Air Pistol Mixed Team competition, took the podium with their success and received medals.

The weapons used by Dikeç and Tarhan are air weapons used in 10-meter competitions.

Within the scope of this AHSASK project detailed below, a comprehensive project framework is drawn for the development of air gun shooting in Adana by providing a small infrastructure support, directly preparing the infrastructure for 5 different international air shooting and indirectly for 2 sports branches (4 Olympic and 3 amateur), and training athlete competitors; it explains how opportunities can be provided for this purpose and provides information about these sports.

First of all, air guns (crash or PCP type) used in all branches within the scope of this project document are legally free in Turkey, and can be purchased from stores by anyone over the age of 18 without requiring a license. (Air Gun sales are reported to the Security by the sales store)

In addition, the power of the guns used in these competitions are rifles that have been reduced in accordance with international competition standards and are much lower-powered air rifles than air guns that can be purchased from any store in Turkey. Therefore, while athletes receive gun safety discipline in the events, training and competitions are held in the highest security environment.

In our country, the Ministry of Youth and Sports supports the 10m air pistol and rifle shooting branches in the 2 international Olympic branches. However, unfortunately, three branches in Europe that are considered amateur or hobby branches that train athletes in this branch are not yet supported and therefore (apart from 10m) the infrastructures that will support these branches do not receive any support at this stage and it becomes difficult to train athletes in 10m branches.

This situation is a major deficiency both in terms of training Olympic shooters in our country and in creating a "gun culture" among children and young people.

The three amateur or hobby branches before 10m air pistol and rifle shooting are:

  1. Field Target (FT)
  2. Hunter Field Target (HFT)
  3. Target Sprint (TS)

Since amateur teams from Turkey participated in the establishment of the World Field Target Federation in Europe in 2012, Turkey is also a part of the Federation and our teams can participate in all competitions in Europe and the World in these 3 branches. Below are the photos of these participations.

While there are approximately 200+ clubs supporting these 3 branches in England, which can be considered the center of FT/HFT/TS sports, this number is zero (0) in our country.

In England and Europe, every child who can safely use an air gun from the age of 13-15 can do this sport by themselves or with their family. Depending on the athlete's desire and success, athletes who are trained in the Field Target (FT), Hunter Field Target (HFT), Target Sprint (TS) fields can later…

  1. 10 Meter Pistol Shooting (Olympic Sport)
  2. 10 Meter Rifle Shooting (Olympic Sport)

or indirect branches

  1. Biathlon (Olympic Sport)
  2. 400-1200 meter running sports (Olympic Sport)

They can switch to branches.

In the FT sport, which is considered the “Formula-1” of air gun shooting, and in other branches, shooters adapt their rifles to the desired technical conditions before gaining shooting discipline; this gives shooters the awareness of “weapon/power limitation”, “security” awareness and shooting discipline. (gun culture)

In our country, a person can only learn the “shooting and using binoculars” skills when he/she goes to the military, chooses military service as a profession or does shooting as a hobby, but in England or Europe, a young person gains the above-mentioned amateur sports at high school age. In our field shooting activities, we see that many of our Gendarmerie or police officers are uninformed and inexperienced in the field of “shooting and using binoculars” today. As stated in the military, “shooting and using binoculars” skills are a “force multiplier” and in this equation, a British high school student can be more educated and effective than our ordinary gendarmerie personnel. In our country where the concept of Soldier-Nation is internalized and surrounded by various threats on all sides, providing conscious weapon training and providing weapon culture to the youth will both prepare our youth better for their future military service and develop their consciousness and awareness (civil defense gain).

In addition, shooting sports are important tools in raising conscious shooters who protect nature. The disciplines that these sports provide are ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the ranges that we offer within the scope of this project and that they will use, the discipline of shooting at metal targets instead of living beings and the air weapon culture. (environmental awareness culture)

The main need at the center of all these branches is the “Air Weapon Shooting Range” that will meet the FT/HFT/TS/BR/10M branches and the “ADANA AIR WEAPON SHOOTERS Sports Club (AHSASK)” that we established as Project Entrepreneurs is focused on this need.

OUR PURPOSE

Our aim as AHSASK is to create a range complex where amateur air gun shooters can work in the amateur branches that interest them in a safe manner for our branch of activity, 10-Meter Pistol/Rifle shooting; to obtain direct support from Adana Provincial Sports Directorate, Adana Metropolitan Municipality and Adana Governorship in order to create this spotive and cultural transformation environment where we can direct both child and adult athletes who come to the range to 10M shooting branches in line with their skills through interaction.

In the second stage, to invite young people and adults who use air guns in various neighborhoods and fields in Adana to participate and become members of AHSASK so that they can do their amateur sports shooting in an organized and disciplined manner; to include them in an environment that will provide gun culture disciplines. In this environment, amateur athletes and members will gain the correct discipline required by gun culture over time and will transfer it to amateur air gun shooters around them.

In the third stage, some awareness trainings prepared within the scope of AHSASK will be given to middle and high school students in Adana with the support of Adana Metropolitan Municipality and Provincial Sports Directorate, and our children and youth will be made aware and will be able to create a gun culture. Written parental approval will be obtained first for students under the age of 18 and for memberships.

Fourthly, AHSASK students, athletes and members who have the necessary discipline and infrastructure will be directed to 10M shooting branches. The success rates of athletes who will come from the amateur branch and be trained in the process will increase due to the intense elimination process they will go through.

In summary, with this project proposal, we want you to support the development of sports and athletes in 7 branches in Adana and start the 10M Shooting Sport, train participating athletes and create teams that will participate in domestic and international competitions, host Adana for International Competitions and most importantly, take the lead as AHSASK to start the transformation that will create the right "gun culture" in young people and lead Adana to be the first and leader in Turkey in this field!

Kind Regards
